Within Honeydown

Honeydown Plantation is an old oak woodland covering over 15 acres. According to historic maps, this woodland has occupied the area for at least 200 years, though it’s likely to have been home to trees for much longer. Some of the oak trees were planted to help replenish the nation’s timber stocks following the two world wars.

Now, Honeydown is no longer a commercial plantation. Our ambition is to diversify the tree species and develop a more natural woodland ecosystem. A quarter of the woodland is being allowed to rewild naturally, while the remaining area is undergoing a woodland diversification programme to ensure it becomes a vibrant habitat for wildlife and plant species for generations to come.

Beyond Honeydown

Surrounded by a working farm, the only neighbours you’re likely to meet here are sheep. Honeydown is located in West Devon, close to the edge of Cornwall, perfectly positioned between Dartmoor and the North Devon coast. It serves as the ideal destination for unique stays near the North Devon coast, offering easy access to wild moorland walks and invigorating sea dips.
